Pete and Kristina's Day Out

Image
Got out into-the desert for awhile today although warmer then what I thought it would be but still nice to get out where we could be alone for awhile....driving over rutty dirt roads and taking pix along the way. The land is so strange down here but I am getting used to it. We did not make it the park but traveled a short way into BLM land which is just as beautiful. We also discovered another area where many trailers were parked ..of course on BLM land and took a pic of one that was made from a truck. Was really cool. Any who it gave me a little time to breath again and Pete and I had a nice time and had a picnic lunch which included the last two pieces of my coconut cake. Hope to get out a little more and leave the cell phone at home.

Jean's Post

We really love it here in Why And especially this great park, a nice small, 37 spaces, with a pretty space we can do some “landscaping” on, as well as a community vegetable garden several of us are working on. We have started a recycling effort which really makes me happy too. Our manager, Pete, is an exceptionally good addition to a really nice spot, he is cheerful, hard working, and really cares about the place and it’s residents. Our cat, Dolly, is the reason we came over here, we were at the East park with no hookups and larger more open and “wild” spots, but it was too wild for us to feel safe about letting our cat roam about a bit, the coyotes were a little too at home there!! Here is a bit more civilized, which is a plus and a minus of course, but we have decided this is the spot we will call home. We actually traded the truck that we hauled our fifth wheel with for a smaller truck we can explore in, and bought a smaller trailer to go traveling in.All the folk...

Feb 7 Weiner Roast

Weiner Roast A busy “happy hour” with lots of food!  Augie’s suggestion of a hot dog cookout was embraced by most of the park, and even the neighbors.  Jimmy brought over his deep fryer and made french fries.  Augie provided dogs and buns (though he did back out of getting the “special rolls” from Maricopa).  Everyone else brought something, and no-one went hungry.   Cindy’s carrot cake was a personal favorite, and for some reason several people liked my chili. There was lots of socializing, and the only challenge was finding a spot to sit out of the sun. There are lots of reasons to spend time in Why.  The weather is quite pleasant, the night skies are AMAZING, and the wildlife watching is great.  But what makes it so enjoyable are the people, both in the park and around the area.

The Not so Trailer Show

We went over to Coyote West for a trailer show but they cancelled due to the wind.  Still I was able to take some great pix of trailers and people and one dog...Enjoy

Tohono Oodham

I wanted to write a post and mention a few things about Tohono Oodham lands. These people are allowing us to come on their land and we are allowed to hike or ride bicycles. What we are not allowed to do is we are not allowed to bring motor vehicles of any kind, we are not allowed to pick up any rocks, we are not allowed to disturb anything that we find laying on the ground. I feel that they are very generous in allowing us to hike on their land and bicycle on their land. The reason I am writing this is not because there's been any violations but because I feel very strongly that myself and everyone else must respect their culture and their land. They themselves have a deep respect for each and every rock, plant, animal that is on their land. Please be mindful as you walk on Tohono Oodham land.

Coyote Howls West Is Always Full

we have 2 spots only available tonight
I am a happy to be here resident of Coyote Howls West, Jean at space 20.  Pete and I have been trying to find out why the comment function is not allowing anyone in, actually Pete is doing it, I am watching, my skills on the computer are very limited.  My husband, Charles, and I are new to the area, but are planning on staying.  We actually traded in our big truck for a small one and bought a small trailer for our excursions, and will leave our bigger fifth wheel here as our permanent home. We have always loved the desert and now will have the ability to do some exploring on the back roads!                                                                     We initially stopped at the East park, loved the open bigger spots, but we have a cat , Dolly, we love too much to take a chance on the possibili...
